Drawing Process + Inspiration
Jayne's drawings are a mediatation, inspired by the power and traquility of water.
Quite often, she takes a mental picture of the movement of the water's surface as she enjoys a day boating on the water. She brings the feeling of the water's movement as she puts pen to paper to bring the water to life.
Jayne also likes to draw from photos taken while flying in or out of places surrounded by water. Some of her travels have taken her to areas where the water has left a permanent mark on her artistic soul, where she will then translate into drawings.
Jayne draws with permanent black ink on 100% cotton watercolor paper. Each stroke is like a string of water, interacting with the next, eventually creating a beautiful body of water. Each line varies in thickness and opacity as the pen travels across the bumpy paper like water over a stone.
